You’ve made a great start to the season. Are you optimistic about what this Napoli squad can achieve?

Absolutely – Napoli is trying to change it up. We’ve got a lot of young players so it’ll take time, but I’ve seen great enthusiasm and drive to improve. And we have to push ourselves to improve day by day to create a great team. It wasn’t easy with the transfer market period going on and seeing a lot of players come and go. But all the new players are very good and managed to settle in with the team immediately.

It’s safe to say that Luciano Spalletti’s philosophy is working wonders, but what’s it like to play for him?

On the pitch he has a very offensive approach and he always tries to keep the ball a lot. However, he is a very hard-working coach, every day. When you continue with the same coach you create more and more harmony between him and us. We're working well and that's the important thing.

For someone who is from Rome, what’s it like playing in Naples?

They are similar cities, especially when it comes to the fans’ passion; these are two cities where it’s all about football. Both in Rome and in Naples they live for it, and are always making sure you feel their love. They make you feel that they are there for you in hard times. For us it is a great honour, and we always have to go all out on the pitch so that they are not disappointed. Living in Naples is beautiful. The people are super warm; whenever you walk around, they stop you. It is a wonderful city that offers so much.

You played very well last year, not least your performances in the Europa League, but how does it feel to be back in the Champions League?

I think that playing in the Champions League is everyone’s dream. When you have to face the best teams in the world, the best players in the world, I think you get an incredible adrenaline rush and sense of importance. In fact, our goal last year was to get back into the Champions League. When you enter the Maradona Stadium with the Champions League music, it is one of the warmest stadiums in the world.
